What is Holistic Interior Design?
Holistic interior design considers and creates for the whole person (mind, body, spirit), rather than the space’s form and function alone. It is an energy-based approach to design, that focuses on your psychological & spiritual well-being to restore balance & harmony within all aspects of your life.
“Holistic interior design lifts your spirit and nurtures your soul.”
What is The Holistic Interior Design Approach?
The holistic home design approach means looking at the whole home – the environment and the people that live there. It means spending less time concerned with trends and beautiful objects, and more time considering how interior design will impact our mental and physical well-being, along with our comfort and productivity. It means getting intentional and trusting the process of creating a home all while making memories along the way.
“Your home is always evolving – spiritually and energetically.”
The 6 Steps
- Do The Inner Work. Start getting to know yourself. What do you like/not like? What makes you feel like your best self?
- Start decluttering. I know it’s been drilled by other bloggers & experts at this point. But our surroundings affect us in both our mental/emotional and physical health.
- Start a self-care routine. Taking care of your physical health is so important. I have a whole list of self-care ideas here!
- Start a spiritual practice. What feeds your soul?
- Be intentional with your purchases and items that you want in your home. Have you considered how that piece will fit into your lifestyle long-term?
- Bring in nature and organic materials. Crystals, rocks, plants, carvings, statues, etc. But only what you love and that which brings you peace and ease. The plants can be artificial or real but should look and feel as natural as possible!
“As we clamber for a calmer, connectedness, and simpler and more self-aware approach, it’s easy to see why creating a holistic home is rising in popularity.”
It’s a Holistic Process
Your house is a direct reflection of who you think you are, your beliefs, and your feelings. And no, it’s not too late to re-align and re-design your home to be a genuine reflection of you.
It’s a process to expand your knowledge of how our homes make us feel and how they contribute to our overall well-being. I hope that you are celebrating that you picked up this guide to getting started on this journey because I am celebrating you!

And when it comes to your home, I simply can’t ignore taking a holistic approach.
