As I look out the window at a beautiful, crystal clear, still lake with a boat calling my name, I found myself feeling as if I’d just been slapped upside the head. Now, I’m always in pursuit of my dreams and as I was listening to my IG stories just now, one of my favorite female entrepreneurs said the words that she was in a “be” season. I think I literally said out loud, “Wait, what?” and I looked up at this view and understood exactly what she meant by “be”. Now, I follow this person because she inspired me in 2022 to start going all-in on building my holistic interior design & feng shui business. This was after I had just had my first child and felt lost living in a house and feeling the need to cry because it didn’t tell my story or give me peace. But that’s a story for another day. We’ve since moved out of that house and now I find myself entering into a new season of hustling but it also feels right and like I can also “be”. It feels so good. I want to help you find your “be” season too and it starts with taking advantage of these four ways to normalize wanting what we already have.
Practice Gratitude
It’s so simple to do, yet most of us do not take the time to do it. Be intentional and take a minute, literally 60 seconds. List off as many gratitudes, either on paper or in your head, as you can. You will feel amazing and start to notice the shift within yourself if you consistently do this practice.
Declutter Your House
Now I know that decluttering seems counter-intuitive but stick with me here. By normalizing wanting what we already have within our houses, it means sifting through what we have to determine if we still even want it within our homes. So if you know that you have some clothes or some decor items that no longer serve a purpose, do not bring you joy, are broken, or bring up negative memories; these items need to be donated, sold, or recycled/thrown out in the garbage. You can let them go by expressing gratitude for them living out their purpose.
Display Meaningful Pieces In Your Home
After you’ve decluttered your house, you may have a disheveled home. Now it’s time to start bringing out pieces that were in storage and display them on bookshelves, your mantel, your dining table, etc. It’s time to change out the photos that are currently in frames and bring out other memories that are happy and bring you joy! It’s also time to change around where you may have pieces already like if you have a serving tray on your bedroom dresser, you can bring it out and put it on the coffee table. Start moving things around within your home and you will feel a great, positive energy shift.
Host An Event To Normalize Wanting What We Already Have
I know. It’s a slight pivot but you are doing great so stick with me on this one too! Once you’ve put in all of this work on decluttering and then displaying the meaningful pieces within your home that you already had, can you not imagine sharing it with the most meaningful people in your life that you already have too? To make it super easy, you could host a game night! You can bring out the board games and cards. A super easy food item to make is a charcuterie board and a dessert board. I’m also all for move nights but it’s your preference. I’ll bring popcorn!
In conclusion, let’s normalize wanting what we already have…
These four action steps are a great easy way to start building an easy gratitude practice in your home which will start bringing in positive energy shifts within your space. You’ll also feel lighter, more fulfilled, and happy with where you currently are in your life. This will allow you to start to create the future that you want for yourself. In the meantime, let’s normalize wanting what we already have and share it with everyone!
