“Everything is energy.” Our thoughts control our attitude about our life. Our subconscious is affected by everything in our environment, home, and workplace. This is because of the energy in that particular space. When you optimize the flow of energy in your home and mindfully curate your environment with furniture, imagery, and objects that have been chosen with intention, you’ll elevate the energy of the space and feel differently as a result. Our homes should be places we love, where we enjoy waking up and coming back home to, feeling refreshed, balanced, and at peace. I’m going to tell you 5 Ways to bring positive energy into your home. Let’s dive in!
POSITIVE ENERGY FOR WELL-BEING AT HOME
Have you ever visited a model home for a construction company? I love walking through model homes and seeing the various designs and decor that are used to appeal to homebuyers that are looking to build their next home. But, the model home always feels cold and unfinished. I think it’s because no one actually lives there and therefore, feels lifeless or sou-less. Have you ever visited somewhere that feels that way? I’m sure there is a room in your home that, despite looking aesthetically pleasing, just feels slightly off. A soulless place evokes a negative physical reaction in us. A soulful space creates positive energy and improves our sense of well-being.
HOLISTIC INTERIOR DESIGN PROMOTES WELLNESS
I’ve adopted a holistic approach when it comes to designing spaces within homes. I wrote a whole blog post about it here but it ensures the environment is balanced and in alignment with my client’s individual needs. Your home is always evolving – spiritually and energetically. As we clamber for a calmer, connectedness, and simpler and more self-aware approach, it’s easy to see why Holistic Interior Design is rising in popularity.
Other alternative modalities such as color therapy, meditation, crystals, and Feng Shui to name a few are becoming more mainstream. With these alternative modalities combined with luxury modern design principles, I can create a space that not only heals and supports my clients; it then becomes magnetic and draws in more of what they want and need from their environment.
THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
When the movie, “The Secret” came out, this concept exploded. Authors like Jack Canfield of “The Chicken Soup” series, Gabby Bernstein of “Super Attractor”, and even Oprah Winfrey jumped on and made this concept mainstream. All of these authors say that the Law of Attraction states that like attracts like and then you attract that into your life. In Feng Shui, every corner of your home represents an area of your life. If you’re looking to attract love, success, money, good health, or better relationships, you can leverage this energy through the intentional design of your home.
By creating physical space in our home, we create physical space. By clearing out the energetic clutter, you open up room for positive energy in your home.
5 Ways To Bring Positive Energy Into Your Home
Now more than ever, our homes have become real sanctuaries. We are mostly working, studying, and learning from home. We are entertaining ourselves from home and using spaces within our homes in ways we never had or have had before. Let’s take a look at how we can apply this thinking to the design of your home in various spaces. Remember, it’s about how you want the space to make you feel, not how it looks. The design and decor of the space should feed the feeling.
Is your desk (or kitchen table) a hot mess?
How can you attract new business opportunities if you do not physically have space for it? You need to create room to think and for energy to flow, so decluttering, space clearing, and storage are a priority. Clear your desk of loose papers, sticky notes, mail, magazines, books, etc. Same with the kitchen table – utensils, linens, decor items, amazon boxes ( I know I’m not the only one!).
What Does your view Look Like?
If your back is to a wall and you face a blank wall, I ask you now to run. You have to run to Target or Etsy and buy a piece of art or invest in a set of shelves and fill those shelves with beautiful items that will bring you joy. OR, you could switch your desk to face a window. That’s an option too. Whatever you can see from your desk should motivate and inspire you. If you can’t see a window, you can bring nature inside with plants and natural elements (this is called biophilic design). If you’re faced with distractions or mess, this will only create negative energy!
Have you taken a look at your entryway?
Energy enters our home through the front door. It doesn’t matter if it is a small space (like mine) or a hallway with a console table, baskets, benches, or art. If your hallway is chaotic and cluttered, the frequency of this negative energy is going to flow through your home and life. How can you turn that into positive energy flow towards the rest of the home? By cleaning it up! Add art that is meaningful, inspiring, and peaceful. Add in a few pieces that will make this space functional for you and your family! It’s about adding in the positive energy and subtracting the negative energy.
Do A Mini-Declutter Of Your Spaces
Items throughout the home with a low vibration will impact your productivity and overall well-being. Those half-read self-help books collecting dust by the side of the bed are likely holding you back from your personal growth. Incomplete energy can make us feel like we are stuck in a holding pattern, often to a point of stagnation. The same goes for broken items – fix them or get rid of them (eg. fixing dripping taps helps to control our financial flow). They are limiting your healing and growth.
Update Your Shelves, Consoles, & Photo frames.
I love to optimize the energy in your environment. In Feng Shui, the concept is called chi – you need to keep it moving, clean, and full of vitality. It’s about interacting with your possessions which is critical to keeping the chi flowing. Try moving objects and shopping your home and updating photos in the photo frames. This can help you to move forward in all areas of your life.
Here’s the best bit: by elevating the energy in our environment we raise our own frequency too, which improves our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being!
