Any bets on who is going to win the Super Bowl LVI on Sunday? I’m rooting on the Bengals, we kinda have to since we are here in Cincinnati but Good Luck to both teams! On that same note, I wanted to share the best tips for preparing for the best 2022 Super Bowl party. I am sharing some tips for the best game day food recipes & games but also decor. The game room is making a comeback in 2022!
The game room is becoming an even more important space to gather with friends and family. People are starting to use the game room space as a place to watch sports and play board games. They are also using it as a double functioning space, possibly a home theater or office. So if you are thinking of turning a space into a game room, here’s how!
Energize with Color
The space may be in a den, loft, or even the traditional basement. If that’s the case, then brightening it up with bright colors can make it not only seem less dreary but also seem sunny when there are few windows. But, be sure to avoid a theme so the room can be repurposed, if necessary for any functions that it may need to serve to meet the family’s needs.
I recommend playing Uno, by the way, if you are looking for color and some competition. Those Draw 4s and Change the Colors will get you! But I digress, speaking of function…
Think Of Multiple Functions
I love that watching the Super Bowl is one of our favorite family affairs! My Dad would always buy the latest t-shirt for who was in it and Mom would make the best snacks – Nachos & Cheese, Celery With Peanut Butter, Finger Sandwiches, & Chips With Salsa. It was not just tortilla chips either. We’d watch in our living room but this year we are watching in our in-home theatre in our basement. I can’t wait! Sports are often a family affair so if it is a large room, you could also have a table tennis space that can duplicate as a board-game venue.
Since beverages and snacks are usually a feature of such gatherings, remember to use performance fabrics to deal with those spills! Make sure to use all of the good napkins and then grab the poker chips and bring out the cards for a great poker game!
Have fun with the decor
The game room space allows for fun to be had in every facet – decorating, colors, space planning! Can you tell how much fun I’m having just talking about it? Have fun with the decor in this space! Use board games as the decor, tasteful game art in team colors, colorful throws, pillows, and blankets! And be sure to add a projector, I highly encourage it!
During this pandemic, we’ve been spending a lot of time at home so why not designate a space in the home as a “FUN ONLY” space? Whether it be the den, basement, office, loft, or even the main living room; it can be enjoyed by all with some friendly competition using board games, eating good food, and watching the SUPER BOWL LVI Halftime Show on the television! Go Bengals!
