Good morning! I know you guys are going to see some of my personal style favorites and some details I’d love to put in my dream home as well as enhance our fixer-upper on this journey. This house is a starter home for us and we want to make it work for our newlywed years. We’ve had an apartment for the last 4 years, so we’ve been really limited with what we can do with it. I’m really looking forward to being able to put my own touch on our home. Now onto the best part…
Elements I love that I’d like to bring somewhere to our dream home:
*Patterned Tile: I love this pattern, so I would love to use it somehow! I actually did a stencil pattern in black like this to our fireplace floor but would love to add it in even more! Possibly in a laundry, full bath, or half bath.
* Wallpaper Or Accent Wall. My goal is to have at least one accent wall in every room! I obsessed with shiplap and board and batten or even as simple as another color on one wall different from the rest of the room. I’ve been following Our Faux Farmhouse over on Instagram and they are phenomenal at their tutorials!
* Wood beams: I think wooden beams (even if they are faux) really give character and a more aged look to a home. As much as I love new homes and definitely want to go for a new build as our next home, I really want the house that we live in to feel like it has been around for a little time and has charm. They also give some contrast and offer warmth.
* Subway tiles: I love the look of clean, subway tile with gray grout. I think I’m going to put it up in the kitchen. It’s on my list of projects because it’s so classic, yet feels a little modern, too.
* Barn Door: They present a bit of whimsy in the interior but they also save space in tight situations. I love the idea of a barn door to separate office space or a bonus room.
* French Doors: I love french doors that lead to a great outdoor space in my dream home! They also let in a lot of natural light and can serve as a giant entrance if you need to bring something into the house like a sofa. They actually can be practical and beautiful! These black doors that were styled by Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper are beautiful!
* Greenery and plants: I’d love to have lots of plants inside of my dream home inside and outside! This just seems to be so welcoming to me! I’ve only recently developed a green thumb and I can’t wait to try and grow more flowers and our own greenery next year!
I love that we decided to buy a home instead of renting. It really has been so much fun to enhance, make-over, and see the potential to renovate in this ranch of ours. I can’t wait to add some of these details and add our own personal touch!
Love,
