Well all, what a crazy week, Huh? I’m equal parts confused, concerned and grateful for this opportunity to slow down. I’ve been living off of Lavender Soap and my Thieves Hand Sanitizer while at my workplace this week. I understand that may not be the case for many who are working remotely. My husband is one of them. He is working remotely with our two dog children, but he has been very supportive as I’ve been able to focus on finally building my blog and my new venture in Young Living Essential Oils. So for now, I’m choosing to view this pandemic as an opportunity to detox and declutter my home with my loved ones using these 6 easy DIY non-toxic home cleaning products!
12 oz. non-toxic Lemon Lavender Linen Spray
A linen spray like this one is nice to keep on hand. I love using it to refresh the linens in the spare bedroom when we’re expecting a guest, so the whole room smells fresh when they arrive. I also like to give the folded towels and throw blankets in my linen closet a quick spritz if they’ve been sitting for long periods of time. It’s better than Febreeze!
Ingredients:
- 12 oz. glass spray bottle
- 10 drops lemon
- 10 drops lavender
- 1 cup of Filtered or distilled Water
Instructions for non-toxic linen cleaner:
Begin by adding drops of essential oil directly into your bottle. Next, fill the rest of your bottle with room temperature filtered or distilled water. Put the cap on the spray bottle and give it a good shake before use.
DIY non-toxic Garbage Disposal Refresher

- Add ½ cup baking soda and ½ cup distilled white vinegar.
- Let sit until fizzing stops.
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil; pour down the drain.

DIY non-toxic Pet Stain and Odor Remover
With my two doggos, sometimes they forget to stop playing and pay attention to when they have to go but I’m not afraid because of this solution! It makes cleaning accidents easy and breezy!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of distilled white vinegar
- 1 cup of water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 15 drops Lemon
- 5 drops Thieves
- 5 drops Purification
- 2 cups baking soda (optional, for tough or already-dried stains)
Instructions for non-toxic pet odor and stain cleaner:
Recent Stains or Accidents:
1. Add the essential oils to the salt and mix well.
2. In a spray bottle, combine the salt mixture, distilled white vinegar, and water. Mix thoroughly until salt has dissolved.
3. Blot the “accident” to remove excess moisture.
4. Shake the bottle, then spray the stained area generously until wet.
5. Let sit for 10–15 minutes.
6. Using an old towel or rag, soak up the mixture by blotting until moisture is removed. Do not apply heat to aid in the drying process, as it can cause unwanted odors and stains to set permanently.
For older or more set-in stains:
1. Spray the area generously until wet.
2. Sprinkle baking soda over the stain and leave for 24 hours or until dry. The baking soda will absorb the stain during this time.
Once dry, scoop up as much baking soda as possible and discard, then vacuum thoroughly to remove any remaining powder.
