I’ve never been one for setting new year’s resolutions. I’ve always found them to be something that everyone talks about, but no one ever takes seriously. Instead of setting strict resolutions for myself, this year I’m setting intentions. Intentions that will hopefully enable me to be more present and genuinely make progress toward the person I want to become.
My 8 Simple Living Intentions
Declutter – No matter if it is physical or mental, clutter is causing disorder in life. In order to maintain serenity and clarity, my intent is to declutter. I can even use the decluttering challenge from Neat Little Nest!
Embrace sustainable living – Sustainable living is about making conscious lifestyle choices that are beneficial to yourself and the environment. I want to reduce my waste and make better-informed shopping decisions.
Exercise more – We invested in the YMCA to be able to get in shape and also make new friends since we moved here. I really have no excuse.
Eat more whole foods – I by no means have a terrible diet, but it’s definitely far from consistent. I want to do better this year!
Show up On Instagram Stories – Instagram is a place I can actively hone my creativity and showcase my home designs while pushing myself out of my comfort zone and sharing a little bit more.
Build a veggie and herb garden – I think there is something super therapeutic about digging in a garden. As part of my zero waste, slow living, and whole-food-eating efforts, growing a veggie garden seems like the next logical step.
Embrace mornings – I’m not a morning person, but I do love the light in the early hours and I don’t like wasting a whole day.
build a spiritual relationship with My Creator – As a Christian, I would like to grow in my faith and re-connect with my God as He has gotten me through so many of life’s ordeals. I would like to practice gratitude for all the things that He has given me.
CAN’T WAIT TO GET STARTED?
I hope this list can bring some inspiration to you. Perhaps even offer some suggestions on how you can slow down and embrace simple living in your own way. Note that some of these are more specific to me and might not be for you. That’s okay. Your own list of intentions should be unique and full of the things that make you, a better you.
